OMG!!! R107 has answered some more questions.
The last time that happened was in july. Like allways I wouldn’t expect much information from R107 but quite a bit of humour.

On the official Free Radical website week six of the furry radicals blog has been written apparently by a monkey (???????). The supposed monkey mentions a multiplayer level but unfortunately gives little (you could argue none) details (we will find out soon enough). Click here or read the entry below:
“Yeah, I’m a monkey. Stop asking.
Soooo, multiplayer, eh? It’s the life blood in just about any FPS, so you’ve got to get it right. Hence why we’ve got a room with no windows, filled with playtesters - each of them looking more and more like they’re anemic as the sleep deprivation takes hold. Peering over their shoulders, I’ve had a good look at the levels they’re testing. My personal favorite has got to be the assault mission on the deck of the Land Carrier where the rebel team is trying to shut down the mantel defense grid. Ohmygod, I’ve totally given away the fact that we’re doing a map on the deck of the carrier! How embarrassing! I suppose I could just delete it. Ohmygod! I haven’t deleted it!
Anyhoo, I’m off to explain to the Free Radical bosses why I’m chatting away about our multiplayer levels in a tiny little blog that no one reads, instead of on some big-ass games website. The answer is, because I’m lazy. Goodbye.“
An interview that points out some HAZE facts and confirms Timesplitters 4 is comming along. Rob is HAZE’s screenwriter.
PSU: A lot of people, press included, have been labeling Haze as a possible Halo killer. What are thoughts on this comparison and for you, how does Haze have the upper hand?
Rob Yescombe: Well, since we’re a PS3 exclusive, we’re not really in direct competition anyway. The truth is that we’re big fans of Halo, and we’re under no illusions about the fact that Halo is a juggernaut that will roll over most things. Whilst Haze has things in common, we’re doing things differently: we’ve got our unique asymmetric combat system, with different weapons sets and skill sets for each faction, so you’ll be choosing either Mantel or The Promise Hand based on the way that you like to play First Person Shooters. What’s more, on the narrative side, Halo seems to be about saving a planet, whereas Haze is about saving the soul of one man. We’re trying to tell a very personal story.
PSU: About exploration; will players be rewarded for putting in the extra time to explore the game’s environments? Are there any hidden areas, or are the levels mostly linear?
Rob: Haze is linear, but we’ve tucked a few secrets away in there. It’s up to you guys to find them.
PSU: To what extent are the environments destructible? Will we be able to tear down a forest or collapse small buildings?
Rob: Ha! No, there’s no deforestation in Haze. But yes, you will be able to have a very noticeable effect on the environments.
PSU: What is the confirmed number of players supported for online multiplayer? Will offline multiplayer support bots?
Rob: 24 players in multiplayer, and 4 players in co-op. And yes, by popular demand, we’re bringing back Bots.
PSU: We all have heard that Haze will be supporting 4 player co-op. Will this be done via online, LAN, or can you have 4 players playing split-screen on one machine?
Rob: It’s two players per screen, but you can play over a LAN and online too, in any combination up to four players in the main campaign mode.
PSU: Many of our readers want to know if vehicles will be supported in multiplayer. If so, what vehicles will be available to Rebels, and which ones to Mantel?
Rob: Yes, absolutely. There are vehicles designed for both Mantel and The Promise Hand. I can’t reveal them all yet, but there will be Jeeps, Quad Bikes, and 4×4s. You’ll also be able to man the guns in the Dropships and Helicopters. Plus, we’ve got one very special vehicle designed specifically for one of the multiplayer maps.

An intersting interview. HAZE seems to be PS3 exclusive full stop and Timesplitters 4 is coming along nicely. No more EA by the looks of it
. This interview was posted 10 days ago but that doesn’t matter.
Game Informer: Where are you at in development right now with Haze?
David Doak: We’re at the crazy time of trying to finish it stage. [laughs]
GI: Do you have a release date yet?
Doak: This year. Obviously, Thanksgiving things are important, so the end of November is the target.
GI: Do you try to say, “We want to totally get out of the way of Halo 3,†or does it matter to you at all because you’re PS3 only?
Doak: I think it matters less because we’re PS3 only. It’s funny—I don’t think people generally find themselves in a position where they can choose release dates. The big things you try to move apart, but it’s a funny business. It is a bit scary as well, because even if you’re on a different platform than something, the fact that something’s out in the same window can take everyone’s money.
GI: Why PS3 first?
Doak: Only.
GI: Only?
Â
Doak: [laughs] You’re a weasel. The opportunity is there. I think PS3 needs good shooters. We have some previous with Sony consoles, and that’s good for us. We’ve delivered very well on PS2 with the TimeSplitters games and the opportunity is there. Also, it’s not just previous experience; there’s some know-how as well. PS3 is an evolution of PS2, so the expertise we have with the vector stuff is useful. It’s a good platform to be on. I think it’s mainly the opportunity.
GI: You said it’s the evolution of the PS2, and the PS2 was a pain to develop for. Is the PS3 the super pain to develop for?
Doak: It’s a very specialized piece of hardware. It’s useful to have people who have worked down to the metal on other similar things before, and we have a few guys who really, really know this stuff. We also in fact have a few new guys who I’m really impressed with who really know their stuff. It’s all very techie—it’s pretty techie beyond me these days, as well. But it’s a really important part of the industry now. Code’s getting really complicated.

This blog aims to take as much information from the internet as possible to give you all you need to know on Free radical. I will try my best to update often.
Free Radical Design Limited is a video game developer company for those who don’t know (skip this paragraph if you know the basics). Free radical is famous on their timespitters series and have also developed the game Second sight. They are coming to the end of developing the game HAZE in which could prove to be the most popular PS3 FPS of 2007. Free radical design was formed from the former rare members David Doak, Steve Ellis, Karl Hilton and Graeme Norgate. They worked on classic titles such as the well known goldeneye (for N64).
HAZE is the next game to be released from free radical and they have piratically finished. If you are here you should know that it is a FPS with a unique system that involves two sides very different from one another. They are the Mantel troops and the rebels (Aka “The promise hand”). The interesting part is the way each side has different advantages/disadvantages.
Below here is a video that will probably explain a lot. David Doak makes you sound like a brainless pea though.
